Pakistan halted Australia’s unbeaten run in the World Cup defeating the defending champions by four wickets in their final match of the Group A here at the R Premadasa Stadium on Saturday.
Chasing an easy target of 177 runs, Pakistan completed victory with nine overs to spare but after losing six wickets.
Umar Akmal and Asad Shafiq were the main scorers with 46 and 44 not out, respectively. Younis Khan (31) and Kamran Akmal (23) were other significant contributors.
Allrounder Abdul Razzaq who hit the winning boundary remained unbeaten on 12.
For Australia, Brett Lee was the most successful bowler taking four for 28.
